mishmosh of stuff

okay okay I know it's time to update--but my life right now pretty much bores ME so I can't think anybody really is interested, but:

still struggling to solve the " why I can't lose weight problem" since the hormone thing I tried didn't' work ( I gained it all back on a very low carb diet) and I'm pretty sure it also messed with my metabolism since my body temp went down to 96.8 in the DAY TIME . Got that fixed with some T3 protocol and have started drifting slowly lower-hallelujah. Have given up all grains completely and cut out all sweeteners except splenda. Crossing my fingers. Have an appointment soon with my practitioner to learn results of latest thyroid tests so maybe some answers there.

Most of my time lately has been spent in the garden--or the jungle. Pretty much fence to fence waist high weeds everywhere--(the playground area is completely submerged, and I thought that was mulched and finished, but NOOOOO)-- except the area I tamed last year and even that isn't as maintenance free as I had hoped. . Its pretty frustrating. and Seymour isn't much help as he thinks the weeds look fine. I need an army to help me get it under control...Especially as I threw my back out planting some fruit trees--they need BI-IG holes--and have been out of commission for a few days.

The vegetables are in and looking pretty good-- I do have the watering on timers so I don't have to keep track of that--that helps a TON! I got the flower pots done up by the entrance--window boxes and etc but still need to get the upper pond going--this is the latest I think I have ever been getting that done--( the new pond and stream has been up and running for awhile --pun intended! )

ah well --in the eternal scheme of things it doesn't really matter much does it!

You really should get a goat or a couple of geese. Geese are great weeders (though they don't eat the brush like goats)and are quite tasty too!

I actually looked into renting a goat herd!--but we don't have enough land.

I wish I liked their milk and cheese better. maybe I could get a couple of sheep. I like sheep's milk cheese!

geese and ducks would be awesome--but I don't think they would make a dent in THESE weeds. honestly--it's frightening

Here's a trick to keep away weeds for the year and most of next... of course it won't work everywhere. If you have places you can put mulch/woodchips on inbetween flowers or bushes, then it is perfect. Where you can lay down some really thick newspapers after weeding. 6-10 pages thick and spread them inbetween the flowers of bushes. Then cover with woodchips. It looks really well kept and stays that way for quite awhile. If you have a little more money you can invest in plastic with little holes to let the water through. This holds out weeds for even longer of course.

Seriously though, with the amount of land you have, just having a goat for weed control might be worth it. People are always giving them away free on our classifieds and the cost of feed would be almost nothing. At Abe's work they have four and they stake them out in a different place every day. And you'd get some great manure for fertilizer too.

I wonder if the zoning codes would let us have a goat?

The issue actually is that once I get it all tamed-- using all the tricks you listed, Quinn--I do it ALL) I won't NEED the goat. I just need a goat to help me get it tamed in the first place. There is so much untamed land and i want it all done yesterday and it is only ME. It feels like there isn't enough time or energy in the universe!
